M.A. Solicitors – Employment Tribunal Pricing Information

This pricing guide explains the likely costs involved in bringing or defending an Employment Tribunal claim. It is designed to provide transparency in line with the SRA Transparency Rules.

Overview of Our Fees

The cost of an Employment Tribunal matter depends on the complexity of the case, the number of issues in dispute, and how the other party engages with the process.

As at May 2026, we are not we are registered and therefore VAT is not applicable. 

Typical Fee Range:

£300 – £45,000 

Disbursements (ThirdParty Costs)

Disbursements are costs payable to external providers and are separate from our legal fees.

Typical disbursements include:

  • Barrister’s fees (for hearings or written advice)
  • Expert reports (e.g., medical or occupational assessments)
  • Travel expenses (if hearings require attendance outside our area)

Estimated disbursements may range from £0 – £15,000, depending on the complexity of the case.

3. What Our Fees Include

Our service typically covers:

  • Taking your initial instructions, assessing the claim and advising you on the prospects of success 
  • Contacting the employer or representative to set out your position
  • Attempting to negotiate settlement, including through ACAS Early Conciliation
  • Preparing the ET1 or ET3 and supporting documents
  • Reviewing and responding to the other party’s case
  • Advising on evidence, witnesses, and strategy
  • Preparing for and attending preliminary hearings
  • Liaising with experts or barristers where required
  • Preparing for the final hearing, including bundles and witness statements
  • Representing you at the final hearing (or arranging counsel)

5. Timescales

Timescales depend heavily on the employer’s response and Tribunal availability.

  • Negotiated settlement: typically 3–12 weeks (similar timeframe noted on the reference page) 
  • Issuing a claim: must be done within 3 months of the alleged breach 
  • Full hearing: may take 6–18 months from issue, depending on complexity and Tribunal listing times
